Tsukinoki - Marumori opened in 1968 as JNR Marumori line. In 1986, the line was
transferred to Abukuma kyūkō. In 1988 was the rest of the line
opened.
The nickname of the line is "Abukyū".
Between Fukushima and Yanome block station (4.7 km), the line is using JR
Tōhoku tracks.
The fastest train makes the train in 1h09 - an average of 48 km/h.
There is 1 train/hour running the whole line and quite a few trains running on
sections of the line.
A few Abukyū trains continue on JR to Sendai.

This was originally the Tōhoku main line. In 1944 was the sea side line
completed. In 1962 was the old route abolished between Rifu and Shinainuma.
