The line crosses the Seto Inland Sea on six large bridges. The longest one is Minami Seto Ōhashi which is 1723 m long.
The name "Honshi-Bisan" is derived from the first kanji in the two inlands connected, Honshu and Shikoku and in the names of the ancient provinces connected, Bizen and Sanuki.
1.6 km before Utazu branches the line. The main line continues into Utazu station and connects with Yosan line, the branch turns into Yosan line in the other direction towards Sakaide. The branch is used by some trains Okayama - Takamatsu, but is not listed in the offical list of lines.
